        Dana Jurcic                                                                                Vida Jurcic

Dana began writing at a very early age. This first prompted her teachers to place her in an accelerated English program and then, in turn, prompted concerned phone calls to her parents from teachers that had read her macabre stories in the 4th grade.

By the Itching in My Nose Something Wicked This Way Goes was written in a high school creative writing class under the guidance of a teacher who had no concerns for Dana’s mental health.

Dana’s professional life has compelled her to assume various guises including hotel concierge, documentary filmmaker, steam train snack bar operator, tour guide, corporate video producer and visual effects coordinator.  One of Dana’s favourite diversions is singing and playing the hammered dulcimer in Gradec Croatian Tamburitza Orchestra. Dana lives in Burnaby BC with her husband, daughter, son, mother and German shorthaired pointer, Boris.

Much like her sister Dana with her writing, Vida also began drawing at a very young age. What began as scribbles on the walls of her childhood home and modifications or, as she would prefer to regard them, “improvements” to the photos of people in her father’s newspapers, eventually blossomed into a career in graphic design.

Vida is a proud founder of Hangar 18 Creative Group and is also a highly regarded instructor at Capilano University where she teaches Design and Applied Design, as well as the Vancouver Film School, where she is currently teaching Package Design and Typography.

When she is not immersed in design or teaching, Vida plays the brac and mandolin in Gradec Croatian Tamburitza Orchestra and Tiddley Cove Morris, where she is also known to wield a large stick while dancing. Vida also still enjoys the occasional scribble. Lately she has been drawing happy, sharp-toothed moray eels for her little niece. Vida lives in Burnaby BC with her Siamese cat Claudia, where she will soon be joined by her fiancée and his two cats Echo and Charlie.
